It Was Extraordinary!
The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra was superb. Several sections must be singled out for merit: the Brass (Trumpets and Trombones) rang out clearly John William's martial themes; the entire String Ensemble was warm and flowing especially during Princess Leia's Theme, and the French Horns were uncommonly good with much warmth, power, and accuracy. I had great expectations for Cirque Dreams: Holidaze In Concert and I'm happy to say that they were all exceeded. The quality of the images on the HD screen were the finest I have ever seen - much better than any projected movie theater screen. Anthony Daniels was the perfect mc and narrator. Conductor Dirk Brosse did a marvelous job in keeping it all together so beautifully. Last thought: the many kids there loved it, 'nuff said. It was a class act. The Chorus brought new, dramatic sounds to Movies 1, 2, 3.
Performance was Good, LATE START SUCKED!!!
I would not have shown up at 8 PM as stated on the ticket if I had known Madonna consistently runs 2-3 hours late for her shows before the show. If you go, don't bother showing up until 10:30 for her 8 p.m. show, disappointing that she keeps us waiting. A DJ came out at 9 pm and DJ'd for an hour until 10, he could have left the stage after about 15-20 minutes. People applauded when he stopped not because he was good, but because he stopped. So then we waited another 45 minutes for Madonna to come out at 10:45 after he left the stage at 10. The show was over at about 1 a.m. so I guess she did perform for 2+ hours. Her performance was great, but would I see her again... probably not. I was glad that she did a lot of her older music and probably only included about 4-5 new songs that I didn't know. All in all a good concert except for the waiting, skip the DJ!
